The Kuwait Pavilion aimed at an understanding of what life was in the desert and how Kuwaitis had succeeded in making their territory a hospitable and resourceful place; therefore, the structure of the Pavilion was reminiscent of the typical Kuwaiti boats called Dhow, of which Maffeis developed the structure and membrane system.
