The German Pavilion’s theme was productivity, represented by “sprouts of ideas” that rose from the exhibition space to the outer surface, opening into a large roof of textile leaves; inside them, very light photovoltaic panels could be found. Maffeis Engineering developed the pavilion’s membrane system.
