Façade Engineer – London
Maffeis Engineering is looking for a passionate Facade Engineer to join our growing London team in our newly designed office at 150 Holborn. YOUR ROLE
As a key member of our London facade team, you will contribute to a diverse portfolio of challenging design projects, helping to deliver them on time, on budget, and to the highest technical standards. We’re looking for someone with proven experience working on complex building envelopes and façade technologies, someone who is eager to deepen their understanding of how façades interact with structure, building physics, acoustics, MEP systems, and sustainability. A natural curiosity, a commitment to sustainable design, and a collaborative spirit are essential. KEY DUTIES
As a Facade Engineer, your key duties will include:
- Supporting Senior Facade Engineers in managing several major projects, monitoring project performance against timelines, resourcing and fees;
- Assisting in the design of facade systems, working with clients, architects and other engineering consultants to determine the best facade design outcomes;
- Contribute to managing team resources in conjunction with other overseas offices;
- Assisting in the production of deliverables coordinated with other parties;
- Contribute to internal R&D initiatives;
- Monitoring and reporting on project profitability.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- A degree in engineering or architectural engineering;
- At least 2 years’ experience in facade design and detailing from concept stage through execution;
- Good design and engineering skills and a collaborative approach;
- Ability to develop and maintain client relationships;
- Good written and verbal communication skills, experience in preparing design reports, presentations, technical notes, factory and site visit reports;
- Good visual communication skills covering sketches, drawings and 3D modelling;
- Good working knowledge of BS/EN, CWCT and relevant international standards;
- Experience with off-site and on-site test methods to CWCT / AAMA;
- Preferably, chartered membership of a relevant professional institution (CIBSE, ICE, IStructE);
- Experience and proven ability in the process, technical and financial aspects of project managemen.
