Maffeis Engineering’s scope of work was the design and execution of a new shelter for Elizabeth Quay’s new Ferry Terminal. The Elizabeth Quay Ferry Canopy is an innovative fabric architectural ETFE structure with custom printed artwork and an effective aluminium cladding system that, combined with an LED lighting system, provides a functional hub for transiting ferry passengers. The roof is installed onto concrete pylons over a floating jetty system.

The steel columns sit on concrete pylons that stick out of the water with a floating jetty system underneath.
The Ferry Terminal consists of stick built structural steel cladding with architectural aluminium and a digital printed pneumatic ETFE Fabric Roof. The ETFE Fabric has a custom pattern digitally printed on the top surface designed by local artist Penny Bovell.
