The project of the Swansea Arena was divided in different lots. On one side there is the Arena, and Maffeis Engineering scope of work was to study and design a perforater cladding façade, following Riba Stage 4.
The main topics for this scope were due to the shape and geometry of the building, composed by a series of continuous curves with different radii always. The perforated cladding is hung to the sandwich panels, which are anchored themselves to the structure. A stick system façade is located at the bottom of the building, in the lower level, and curtain wall systems were designed for the shapping centre.
The other part of the lot, composed by a residential part, was developed in Riba Stage 3 and actually is an on going project that will be developed in Riba Stage 4. There will be a ventilated terracotta external façade and the maior complexity for this design was to helping the customers to choose the correct finishes in a way to satisfay their aspectative and to have a reduction of costs.
The area has incorporated also a carpark and Maffeis Engineering has also developed differents types of shading systems, with special technologies.
